Kate Griffiths MP for Burton recently visited two Midland Heart housing developments in her constituency.

13th Oct 2021 - Developments

The developments on Aviation Lane and Fivelands Road will bring 192 high quality, affordable homes to the area and are being built in partnership with Partner Construction and Tricas.

Joining Ms Griffiths on the day was Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Finance and Growth at Midland Heart, and representatives from developers, Partner Construction and Tricas.

We’re pleased to be developing our first homes in Burton and it was great to be able to show Kate Griffiths around the sites and discuss our plans for these new communities. The Midlands desperately needs more truly affordable homes and we’re looking forward to welcoming families into our new homes from early next year.

It was great to meet Joe and the team and tour the new homes Midland Heart are developing off Fivelands Road and Aviation Lane in Burton. These homes being a mixture of affordable rent and shared ownership options will give many people the first place they can call their own home and a crucial first step on the housing ladder. Having affordable options particularly helps to ensure that local young people are able to stay local and do not have to look further afield, away from their family and existing community.

Laura Colson, Head Of Midlands Region, Partner Construction, said: “Burton-upon-Trent is a thriving market town that is growing and needs new good quality housing to meet demand. We are delighted to be supporting Midland Heart in the delivery of this important local project. This scheme will deliver much needed, high-quality housing for local people, resulting in an exciting contemporary new-build scheme that residents will be proud to call home.”

“We have forged a strong partnership with Midland Heart and have a shared understanding of the importance of creating quality homes and enhancing local communities. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which we build, we are contributing £500,000 towards primary and secondary education, circa £100,000 for local health provision, as well as monies for highways and travel plans”.

Graham Hopewell, contracts manager at Tricas Construction, said: “We were delighted to welcome Kate Griffiths MP to the Fivelands Road site and show the construction of as many as 64 affordable rent and shared ownership homes, vital for the people of Burton-on-Trent.

“Tricas are at the forefront of innovative housing construction and the delivery of important projects like this, and these homes whilst also sustainable, are built to the latest environmental standards.”

Both developments will have a mix of shared ownership and affordable rent homes, with the first handovers due to take place in early 2022.
