Our 2019-2025 Corporate Strategy, Making What Matters Brilliant, outlined the actions we want to take to make real improvements to the lives of our customers and colleagues. As part of this plan, we also committed to building 4000 family homes by 2025, recognising the need for more affordable homes in The Midlands.
We’re pleased to share that we have recently completed the handover of our 2000th property, to its new tenant Murad Mahamoud at the Booths Lane development in Great Barr, Birmingham.
The development has been built in partnership with Keon Homes, a Midlands-based house builder that works with Registered Providers, Local Authorities, and other partners to build social housing, ‘Extra Care’ schemes and affordable homes for private sale and rent. Booths Lane consists of 59 homes, 45 for Affordable Rent and 14 Shared Ownership.
Mr Mahamoud commented:
“I’m so happy with my new home. It’s an amazing place to live, in a quiet residential area that is perfect for me and my family. I’m so grateful to Midland Heart for all their help and support with our move.”
Matt Beckley, Head of Development at Keon Homes, concluded:
“The only way we can meet the demand for affordable housing is by collaboration and working with like-minded organisations such as Midland Heart.
“The Booths Lane development is a prime example of this approach, and we are delighted we have been able to build a property that Mr Mahamoud and his family are proud to call home.”
We are continuing to build high-quality social housing and are confident we will deliver on our commitment to building 4000 affordable homes by 2025.
