Built on the site of an old church, St Nicholas Court provides 27 self-contained apartments for over-55s, with all residents enjoying maximum independence with light-touch support and supervision.

Following the easing of restrictions, Ms Owatemi was given a tour of the scheme and heard from residents about living in the sheltered accommodation and how it helps them to keep their independence. Each unit has its own front door and facilities that residents can use as well as communal areas that residents can meet each other and take part in activities.

Our residents very much enjoyed the visit and were pleased that Ms Owatemi could join them for their bake sale. It was a pleasure to show her around St Nicholas Court and to discuss some of our priorities for affordable housing.

It was great to have the opportunity to visit the Midland Heart retirement living scheme at St Nicholas Court. Speaking to staff and residents, I was able to learn more about the many benefits of the scheme, which allows residents to maintain maximum independence within a caring and tight-knit community. During my visit, it was lovely to see residents coming together to organise social activities as we emerge from lockdown, and I would like to especially thank them for the delicious cake I was able to enjoy as part of their ‘fake it or bake it’ charity cake sale!
