Midland Heart ‘highly commended’ at construction awards

13th May 2022 - Corporate news

At an award ceremony last night, we were thrilled to be recognised as ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Net Zero’ category at the Constructing Excellence West Midlands’s Awards.

Also nominated in the ‘Client of the Year’ category, the shortlists recognise our innovative partnership with Tricas Construction which will deliver the first social housing homes built to the Government’s Future Homes Standard.

Partnership-working between Tricas, the project team and the wider supply chain has been crucial to the success of delivering this project. We’re extremely proud to have been nominated in two categories but that is a testament to everyone’s hard work and commitment.

The 12 family homes will produce up to 80% less carbon emissions achieving the Government’s ‘Future Homes Standard’, three years ahead of the Government’s schedule, which will be compulsory by 2025.

The project will also be part of a 12-month research study by Birmingham City University to inform future housing policy and help us truly understand what living in homes built to these standards will be like for our residents.
