Midland Heart awarded prestigious health and safety management award
27th Oct 2025 - Corporate news
Midland Heart, which owns and manages c34,000 safe and affordable homes across the Midlands, has won a prestigious Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council, recognising the organisation’s excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work. It includes the organisation’s day-to-day work in tenants’ homes, where teams consistently operate with care and professionalism to ensure the safety of both tenants and colleagues.
In order to compete for the Sword of Honour, Midland Heart first had to achieve the maximum five stars in British Safety Council’s health and safety management audit scheme, which it achieved in November 2024. The organisation has also had to demonstrate to an independent panel of experts that it has achieved excellence in its health and safety management throughout the business, from the frontline to the boardroom.
I would like to congratulate Midland Heart and its staff on this award, in tribute to their commitment to keeping their workplace safe and healthy. All of the Sword award-winning organisations share a commitment and willingness to achieve the uppermost standards of health and safety and we thank Midland Heart for contributing to achieving our vision that no-one should be injured or made ill through their work.
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of British Safety Council
This award acknowledges the dedication of all colleagues across our organisation to maintaining the highest standards of safety, not just in our workspaces, but crucially in the homes of our tenants. Our safe working practices are central to how we protect people, build trust and deliver services our tenants can be confident in.
Michael Bevan Wood, Head of Safety and Facilities at Midland Heart
Midland Heart will be awarded its Sword of Honour at a ceremony in London’s Drapers Hall on Friday 28th November.
