Our Project 80 development has been awarded Best Use of an Emerging Technology in Housebuilding at the Housing Digital Innovation Awards

10th Feb 2023 - Corporate news

Experienced professionals in housing and technology gathered at Birmingham’s Edgbaston arena to celebrate how organisations and individuals within the housing sector are using innovative and pioneering methods to tackle key issues, including decarbonisation and the delivery of new homes.

We’re delighted that our Project 80 development has been awarded Best Use of an Emerging Technology in Housebuilding at the Housing Digital Innovation Awards 2023.

Project 80 comprises a development of 12 family homes in Handsworth, with a further 12 maisonettes in Edgbaston, believed to be the first of its kind in the country to meet the Future Homes Standard. Each home emits 80% less carbon than those built under current regulations.

This pioneering project, completed in collaboration with Birmingham City University (BCU), Tricas Construction Ltd, key product manufacturers and industry bodies and contractors, has focused on exploring a range of innovative technologies, products, and methods to achieve the FHS.

Apprentice Building Control Surveyor, Scott Cooper commented: “As a young professional entering the housing sector, it’s truly great to work for and be learning at an organisation like Midland Heart and getting to work on projects like Project 80 that are one step ahead of the Regulation.”

It was a pleasure to deliver this flagship development, and it’s fantastic that Project 80 continues to receive recognition for its innovative approach.

Wendy Jones, Senior Project Manager at Midland Heart

We’re extremely proud of the success of our Project 80 development, and will continue to identify sustainable methods of working and design principles that will help us to continue to achieve the Future Homes Standard.
